Remote work

Résumés and interviews for remote work

A résumé for remote work should make your contact details, relevant tasks and results easy to understand. Replace a long biography with evidence that matters for the particular role.

Make essential information easy to find

Separate your name and contact details, professional focus, skills, relevant experience or projects and education. State your region and available hours. A passport, bank card number and detailed home address are generally unnecessary for reviewing a résumé.

  • List the requested skills that you actually have.
  • Check your phone number and email address.
  • Open your project links without being signed in.

Describe results without inventing figures

Instead of saying “responsible and enthusiastic”, describe completed work and evidence someone can check. Use numbers only when you can support them. If you lack work experience, clearly identify a relevant practice or volunteer project.

Before and after the interview

Confirm the time and time zone. Check your microphone, camera, internet and screen sharing in advance; Google Meet offers audio and video checks before joining. Agree on a backup contact method in case the connection fails.

Prepare two examples: solving a difficult task and changing your work after feedback. Structure answers around the situation, action and outcome. At the end, clarify the next step, expected response date and any further assignment.

Your checklist

  • Your résumé fits the role and has been proofread.
  • Contact details and links work.
  • Meeting time and backup communication are agreed.
  • You have questions about hours, working arrangements and pay.
